More or Less: Mixed Bag

Which is heavier, a cloud or a blue whale? Two unrelated things, one question, everybody answers at once.

Two things appear side by side with a question between them, and you tap the one you think wins. Neither number is shown until everybody has answered. Then both land at once, with a line explaining why the answer is what it is.

The question is different every round — heavier, older, further north, more sugar, longer-lived — so you are never settling into one subject. You are estimating the size of the world rather than recalling a fact, which is why people who are hopeless at pub quizzes tend to do rather well at this.

Questions

Is More or Less: Mixed Bag free to play?

Yes, and there is nothing to buy later. More or Less: Mixed Bag runs in your browser: no download, no app store, no payment.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Open the link and play. It works on a phone, a tablet, a laptop and any television with a browser, and everyone at a table can be on a different kind of device.

What does “In one room” mean?

Put the pair on the television and let everybody answer on their own phone. This is the mode the game is best in: both numbers land on one screen the whole room is already looking at, so everybody groans at the same instant.

What does “Online, anywhere” mean?

You open a game and share a short link or a four-character code. Friends join from anywhere and the pair appears on every screen at the same moment. There is no turn order, so a big group plays just as quickly as a small one.

What does “Just me” mean?

No table, no code, no account. Answer as many as you like against your own streak, and find out how badly you are estimating the world.

How many people can play?

1–10 players. You can play a solo round against the deck, or fill a table with up to 10 people — in the same room or spread across the world.

How long does a game take?

About 10 minutes. Want a shorter or a longer game? Choose “Set up your own game” and pick how many cards it takes to win.

Do I need an account?

Only if you want to start a game for other people to join. Playing on your own screen works without one, and so does joining a game a friend started — you just choose a name.

Ready when your friends are.

No download, no app. More or Less: Mixed Bag opens in the browser they already have.
